I’ve had the opportunity to visit Theatre Aurora several times over the years, especially when my school hosted its annual spring concerts there. From around 2017 to 2019, the experience was consistently positive. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and supportive, and each performance felt well-organized and enjoyable. After the pandemic, when our concerts finally returned in 2023 following a three-year break, I did notice a few challenges — particularly with the lighting. The quality of the stage lighting during the show seemed lower than in past years, and it made it difficult at times to see what was happening on stage. While that aspect could certainly be improved for future events, I still appreciate the efforts of everyone involved. On a more positive note, I’d like to highlight the great work of Michael Walters, who helps out at Theatre Aurora during the fall and winter seasons. He does an excellent job ensuring that productions run smoothly and are well-organized. I even saw him featured on Newmarket Today, and he seemed genuinely proud of his work — rightfully so. The volunteers I met, including those I spoke with at a local job fair, were also very friendly, approachable, and full of positive things to say about both the theatre and its team. They help make Theatre Aurora feel like a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for everyone. The building itself has a charming, old-school theatre feel — complete with a classic piano (though I’d recommend not touching it, as it’s theatre property!). Theatre Aurora also offers great programs for children and youth who are interested in acting and performance, which is a wonderful way to help young people build confidence and stage experience. Overall, Theatre Aurora is a great place for community theatre and acting programs. While I think there’s room for improvement in production lighting and planning for larger events, the staff, volunteers, and organizers truly make it a warm and inviting place to experience the arts.
So it started if normal until they needed a backup opera singer.. EVERYONE LOOKED AT ME like I was some sort of king, so I went up and sang OPERA!! I got so many roses after the show ;)
"Noises Off" I don't think I have ever been to a play were I have laughed so hard all the way through as well as the entire audience! Every single character/actor were absolutely spectacular, 10/10, the play and the acting was phenomenal! Your facial expressions, timing, all were hilarious, and true perfection! Thank you!
Small but was very entertaining with a convenient bar for drinks and snacks. The play based on Agatha Christie mystery was excellent. No pictures are allowed in the theatre.
I saw the show, The Music Man. Everything about it was stellar, the singing, the dancing, the acting, the set, etc. They are sold out so I was lucky enough to get a ticket. Theatre Aurora always does a great job. I can't wait for the next one!
Attended Theatre Aurora on Saturday for The Experience by Mind Bender. The show was amazing and we left in awe of all the different magic tricks and mind reading! The venue itself was a smaller than anticiapted place, but inside had a nice little lobby with some concessions. The theatre itself has a decent amount of space!
Had the opportunity to see a show this evening, and we watched Blithe Spirit. It was really great and sweet and the actors were all wonderful! We really enjoyed it
