I've been going to this place quite a lot over the last 10 years, including back when they had the Richmond Hill location. I occasionally like to drive 30 minutes up north to grab what's still extremely tasty treats for myself and other nut-allergic friends/relatives, and always say it's worth the drive. However, the last few times I've been going there they've had the tendency to be "sold out" of 80% of their items at least a few hours before closing. Recently went there on a Thursday at 3pm (they close at 6pm) after a full-day meeting in Newmarket. Not a single cupcake available, half their squares sold out (especially square of the month which I was hoping to try) and quite a few cookies as well. I've been there before even earlier in the day, and pretty much the same issue. "It's been a busy morning, sorry!" It's honestly getting very annoying and discouraging to be heading up there again to get the same results. I can't imagine how it feels when a parent picks up their child from school and takes them to their favourite peanut/nut free bakery for a delicious after-school treat. The child is looking forward to picking out their favourite baked item, only to see they're out of almost everything. *Side note - they don't allow you to call ahead earlier that day to place an order either. They did back during COVID (mainly for curb-side purposes, and to speed up ordering), and that was effective. Not anymore. You practically have to be a local who's free early in the morning to have any access to their baked goods. Again, I still love their baked treats very much, but this situation is just getting very frustrating over and over again. Hope this gets fixed soon. Saving a few $$ on baking fewer items to turn customers away isn't all that effective.
unreasonable people to deal with. they refused to deliver my order that was costing me well over $150.00 and I lost the money and they wouldn't accommodate my request - horrible horrible
Wow. Tried this place out for the first time yesterday. So excited to see some gluten free/friendly items. Staff graciously allowed me to try a gf coconut cupcake (no icing) and wow it was delicious. I'm hearing great feedback about the regular items purchased also (cupcakes, cookies and bars). When you read this, please know I would love to order some gluten free cupcakes and bars as well as some regular items for pick up next weekend if possible. Highly recommend you give this place a try. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We just found our new fave local bakery!!
The cupcakes were exceptional and worth the price, I enjoyed a dolly square as well although it wasn’t comparable to the cupcake. I will definitely be back for the cupcakes & future birthday cakes.
Had a hankering for a good cookie so I went to Ginger’s. WOW! I was not disappointed. The apple pie flavour was simply outstanding. Thanks for making a really yummy cookie!
Stopped in to place an order for an event because I’ve driven past many times and saw good reviews. They have so many yummy looking cookies, bars and cupcakes ready on display. I got 4 cookies and a bar and they were all AMAZING. The cookies were soft but had a crisp exterior (my favorite). They had such unique flavors but actually tasted good. Not like other places that do it to draw attention. Our favorites were the strawberry shortcake cookie, London fog and snickerdoodle. I can’t wait to go back and try more. Updated: I also did a custom cupcake order for a gender reveal. The team was really easy to work with and very accommodating with my design ideas. My group loved how the cupcakes looked and tasted!
We ordered three small cakes from Ginger's Cupcakes & Desserts Aurora for our wedding in August 2019. It was such a pleasure to work with Amanda. I really appreciated all the prompt emails, especially since we decided to order the cakes only 1 month before our wedding. We picked up the tasting cupcakes from the Richmond Hill location, but the final cake order was made through the Aurora location. Our wedding cake was an 8-inch 4-layer chocolate cake with raspberry swiss meringue buttercream. I forgot to specifically request white buttercream on the exterior, but Amanda read my mind. We brought them flowers from our florist and she arranged it beautifully on the cake. Plus, they returned the excess flowers with the cake delivery, and we got to use it as additional decor for our cake table. I only had a chance to taste our wedding cake during the cake cutting. It was delicious and moist. The flavour was consistent with our cupcake tasting from the Richmond Hill location. The Swiss Meringue buttercream was not exceesively sweet. When I went back to try to get another piece, all three cakes were gone! Delivery of the cakes to our venue (The Manor) was on time, and there were no issues as far as I'm aware. We couldn't save a cake tier, but we will definitely order it again for our our 1 year anniversary!! Thank you Amanda and Ginger Desserts!
